This pluggin is what I define as charityware and can be freely distributed.  If you find it useful make what you feel as   an appropriate donation to your favorite charity. To install this routine just copy the files into your 3ds Max plugin directory.


Pretty straight forward grid object.  The only thing different is a Render Scale and Segment Scael field.  This field allows you to resize the grid at render time so you can do things like horizons and skies easier.  All it is a multiplier so if you set it to 2 the grid will be twice the size, at 4 it will be 4 times the size etc.  Things to note are that the Texture Coordinates are based on the render scale size and, in addition to multipling the size you are also mulitpling the number vertices and faces (the grid spacing is the same for render and view port), and some modifiers behave strange on scaled grids because the object has changed size.  For instance if you add a Volume Select to the a Grid that has been scaled the Volume Select gizmo will also be scaled.  The new Radial Object Select modifier works well with this if you want to localize tesselation of a large grid plane.  The Segment Scale field scales the segments at render time.  So at 1 it uses the normal segment amounts, at 2 it doubles the number of segements, at 3 triple and etc.

0.8 adds a render segment scale field 
0.72 fixes a bug importing old grid objects where you wouls have to toggle th Render Scale for it render
0.71 fixes a bug where you have to set the grid Render Scale for it to render
